Santa Fe Christian is proud to announce Sophia McLellan as the 2016-2017 Eagle Scholarship Award recipient.

Sophia is a straight A student who enjoys learning in the classroom, building friendships and encouraging others. The youngest member of her church’s worship team, Sophia loves to sing. Her favorite pastimes are reading, investing in youth activities and service projects. Sophia along with her dad, Alex; mom, Sheryl; sister, Moriah (12) and brother, Asher (6) moved to the US from Scotland four years ago and now reside in Encinitas.

“I am so thankful to receive the Eagle Scholarship,” Sophia proclaimed, “This award will allow me to participate in all SFC has to offer and will give me a solid education from a biblical viewpoint.”

Sophia’s dad, radio host for Moody Bible Program “Reason Why” Alex McLellan affirms, “SFC is a lighthouse. It offers godly guidance to young people navigating the stormy waters of life, and it encourages them to build their life on a solid foundation- the rock of Jesus Christ. My daughter can look forward to the godly care and concern of both staff and faculty.”

The Eagle Scholarship is awarded annually to one new incoming freshman who excels academically; puts his/her faith in action; displays outstanding leadership skills and has demonstrated financial need. The scholarship Sophia will receive includes funding for full tuition, books, uniforms, field trips and athletic fees up to four years. Six students have received the Eagle Scholarship to date, with two previous recipients now attending Harvard and Stanford.
