The 5th annual ‘Give Thanks, Give Back’ school-wide service event was held on Friday, November 20. More than 500 SFC Pre-K through 12th grade students, parents and community packaged 50,502 meals. In addition to volunteering their time, SFC Lower School students were asked to put away a quarter every time they had an opportunity to eat – – directly linking their own meals to feeding the children of Tanzania. Their efforts raised $5204.92.
Along with Friends & Family Community Connection, the SFC community volunteered its time to ration dried goods including: rice, soy meal, dried vegetables and vitamin supplements to package into meals for distribution to the Children’s Community Center, based in Singida Town, Tanzania. In conjunction with meals provided by the Children’s Community Center, the Tanzanian government provides school uniforms, financial assistance and basic medical care for at-risk children — giving them hope for a brighter future.
