Santa Fe Christian Students Help Distribute School Backpacks to Inner City
Santa Fe Christian Schools, in conjunction with the Anchor and Venture churches, distributed approximately 350 backpacks with school supplies to City Heights students on Saturday, August 30, 2014. City Heights children from first grade to high school received backpacks filled with school supplies including binders, paper, pens, pencils, folders, glue sticks, crayons or markers and spiral notebooks. SFC’s 7th and 8th grade students, along with other SFC students, organized the collection of supplies and helped distribute the backpacks. This is the fourth year that Santa Fe Christian Schools has been involved in the backpack drive.
Bridge of Hope, a non-profit organization that helps families and refugees from around the world facing crisis, helped identify students who have the greatest need for the backpacks in City Heights.
“Just 30 minutes away, in our own country, is a life that is extremely different and difficult. The backpacks are just one small way SFC students can help,” says SFC volunteer Melissa Drake.
