Last week, 13 female students from SFC attended the BOLD Conference at Harvard Business School, an event designed to equip young women with the tools, skills, and mentorship needed to succeed in the business world. 

The SFC students had the opportunity to hear from accomplished founders and CEOs of major corporations and tour the Harvard campus. They also had the opportunity to network with over 300 students from universities nationwide.

“This was such a great opportunity! It was truly incredible and inspiring to see the possibilities offered to us. I learned so much about my own abilities and how far I can take those, and about how powerful good leadership can be. The sky’s the limit, and I’m beyond hopeful for what the future holds,” said SFC sophomore Nina Tello.  

This marks the second year SFC has sent students to the BOLD Conference. This year, the trip was initiated by senior Mila Sonkin, who also served as SFC’s Harvard Ambassador. Sonkin is also enrolled in SFC’s Intro to Business class and founded the school’s Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) club earlier this year. DECA is a national organization that prepares emerging leaders in fields such as marketing, finance, hospitality, and management.

“This is a tremendous example of how a student can start a club, bring forward a vision, and find mentors who help them make it happen,” said high school principal Mike Siciliano. “In this case, Mila’s vision has become a must-do event that is now a tradition.”

SFC looks forward to sending another group of students to the BOLD Conference next year, continuing to support and foster the development of future leaders.
