Santa Fe Christian’s Athletic Department is excited to announce the launch of the SFC Athletics Podcast, that started in October 2018. Grantham Jones, SFC’s Sports Information Coordinator, is the driving force behind its conception, saying, “My vision for the podcast is to create a space that allows parents, students, and staff to listen for 15-20 minutes, and learn about how the Lord uses athletics for His glory. I think the power of story-telling through authentic dialogue can really work in peoples’ hearts.”

Jones collaborated with SFC’s Educational Technology Coach, Cynthia Nixon, who shared his vision for generating greater SFC community engagement by way of a regular podcast. Their goal is to have each one of SFC’s coaches communicate directly to the SFC audience via the podcast throughout the school year. Other guest highlights may include students in leadership, as well.

There will be plenty to talk about, regarding “all-things-sports” during the school year. Competing in the Southern Section of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), SFC fields over 23 highly competitive CIF teams in diverse sports. Novice to college-bound athletes have the opportunity to play on multiple teams including football, volleyball, cross country, water polo, basketball, soccer, track and field, baseball, softball, lacrosse, golf, tennis and swim. SFC also has a variety of club sports teams which are initiated by students and reflect their diverse sporting interests. There are numerous opportunities in the areas of cheerleading, surfing, equestrian, and sand volleyball. Beyond SFC, the school has substantially more NCAA-bound seniors, with 12% of this year’s graduates going on to play at top universities and colleges across the U.S., which is double the national average.  According to the NCAA, only 6% of the eight million current high school athletes will go onto play college sports.
