For the 2018-19 school year, all home games are FREE to current SFC students and families. In the coming weeks, you will receive an All Sports Athletics Pass, which will grant your immediate family free access to all athletic games on campus. There is enormous value in watching sports and being a part of the community. So, try out your new card – show up at a home volleyball match, football or basketball game – and play a vital part in watching, cheering, and encouraging.

I think back to the time when I failed to be a great fan, and instead chose to coach from the sidelines. Ryan, as a seven-year-old soccer player, thrived on the field. At one of his games, I felt the need to give him many loud – albeit accurate – directions from the stands. I was having so much fun! I was so engrossed in the game that I didn’t notice Coach Pete, an older gentleman, saunter over to the stands and sit beside me. He graciously asked me to be a great fan from the sidelines. With saintly compassion, he said, “Hey, when Ryan hears both of us, he gets confused. Let him play – I’ll coach.” At first, I was hurt and somewhat bothered by his reproof. However, Coach Pete was right. Because of Coach Pete, I evolved into a great watching and cheering fan. Ryan’s game improved each and every year from then on while I cheered from the sidelines.

While you watch your players from the stands, take a moment and reflect upon the vital role you play as a fan.

The athletes and coaches have practiced and prepared for this game, and are finally executing their plan in front of a live audience. Go ahead, be a great fan… give them the cheers they deserve!

Coaches coach the team. Players play the game. Fans fuel the flames. So, join us as we celebrate God’s gift of sports this year, and cheer on your Eagles during the regular season home games with us!
